Crypto Escape Rooms

Another escape room for all you escape addicts. Today's review will be about Newmarket's first ever escape room facility called Crypto. I wasn't lying when I said my friends and I are escape addicts and that we have traveled far and wide to play these games haha.

Pre-Room Experience:  This is actually our second time coming back to Crypto. Our first visit was back in 2016 when we played The Experiment. They were still new when we first visited and this time around you can see how much they have expanded. The facility wasn't too hard to find, and like any other escape rooms you get that sketchy vibe when you pull into the plaza. Once you walk into the facility it is very spacious. The staff were super friendly! While waiting for the other players, my boyfriend and I got a chance to speak to one of the game masters. You can tell they are also very enthusiastic about escape rooms and much like us have been to many escape rooms.

Room Quality: This time we played their newest room Cursed Templed. The quality of the room was A+. Once entering the room you are instantly drawn into the theme and story. Definitely one of the higher end escape rooms. You can tell the staff had put a lot of effort and time in designing each and every piece of puzzle and props for this room. Nothing felt cheap in this room! The only thing my team and I noticed was how similar one of the rooms were like in comparison to Omescape's Dark Alter. It wasn't anything bad, it was just quite similar to us and stood out.

Puzzle Design: The puzzles for this room were much easier compared to a lot of rooms that we have played. In fact, I think this is one of the easiest rooms we have done, given the fact that we always challenge the hardest rooms and fail. The puzzles were very linear and wasn't hard to understand. Each puzzle was connected to one another and was pretty much straight forward when it came to the next step. Even though the puzzles seemed easy, I think the concept and the quality of the rooms really made up for it all.

Overall: The theme and room quality was so well put together! I would say the use of technology in this room was also very cool. Just how everything was put together made the room very fun. However, if you are looking for a challenge, this room might be slightly too easy for you. I would highly recommend this room for beginners or for anyone who have not done many escape rooms. The theme and decoration of this room will really capture you and make you fall in love with the whole experience. Can't wait till they release more rooms. Will definitely be back to play their third room!

Happy Escaping!

I've been wanting to write a post on this amazing sushi place for a while now, but never got around to it. Now that I officially launched my blog this is a no downer! Being a sushi lover, I love discovering new places and sharing my experience with other sushi lovers. THIS IS THE PLACE!

Facility:  The facility was a lot smaller than I expected it to be. I can imagine this place being packed with people and huge lines forming from the outside. The shop size is roughly the same size as Uncle Tetsu on Bay Street.  There are seats and tables inside but very limited. In my opinion the seating was not comfortable at all. Even though there was no one there when my boyfriend and I visited, the high table and chair made it very uncomfortable to sit on. The space was also very limited making that worse. This place is definitely more geared towards take-out than dine-in if that is something you are considering.

Price: Their price is like almost every other sushi restaurant. For example their famous donut sushi (or doshi as they call it) is between $8.00 - $10.00. Their square sushi (4-9 pieces) varies between $11.00 - $15.00. They also have sushi burritos that vary from a full or half burrito. If you're looking to walk out feeling full it will definitely be around $20.00.

Food Quality:  I definitely think the price makes up for the quality of the food. Not only is the food amazingly beautiful, but also delicious! The sashimi were all fresh and tasty (no soy sauce was needed for the amazing taste). The sushi donut was a bit messier to eat, but the way everything melted in your mouth made it very worthwhile. I highly recommend their torched salmon sushi as that was definitely the best!

Overall: Beside the limited space and given how far this place is to where I live, it is definitely worth a visit! Also, their food is definitely Instagram worthy haha. The staff was also very friendly which made the whole experience much more enjoyable.  Food and quality of food was A+! Looking forward to going back to have a taste of everything again!

Being to so many escape rooms, The Truth of Osaka High is by far one of my top 3 favourites. The team and I spontaneously made our visit to Mayze one night when we were all craving an escape adventure. Mayze is a relatively new company that's located in Scarborough. Although it is a bit of a drive there, we still decided to go and try this place out.  From what I remember our experience with Scarborough escape companies were all hit or miss, so we didn't know what to expect.

Pre-Room Experience:  The facility wasn't as hard to find in comparison to some of the places we've been to. Once we walked in, you can tell that they are a newly opened escape company. The lobby was spacious enough and even had some board games for you to play while waiting. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Room Quality: Usually when we do an escape adventure, I always do my fair share of research on the theme of the rooms. However, going into this room I read nothing about the theme nor did any research on the rating. Not knowing what to expect we enter a room that turns out to be a horror theme (of course). The room quality was excellent! Once entering the room you can quickly feel the vibe of the room and how terrifying it was. The props that were used really gave off the illusion that we were sucked into a horror movie. The music added a touch to the whole experience making it twice as scary. The best part of this room was the use of space and design. There were many dead corners in this room making you unsure if you would want to move forward or not. One room in particular was one of the most well designed room that I've experienced. The whole design and atmosphere left 2 players and myself screaming and shouting on the ground!

Puzzle Design: In all honesty, I was not able to focus much on the puzzles because half the time I was freaking out about other stuff around the room. Nonetheless, the puzzles were still great. Some were challenging only because most of the players in our group were too scared to do anything leaving only 3 players to do the puzzles. However, the puzzles were quite linear and didn't leave us wondering what the next step was. I would say some puzzles were more difficult than others, but nothing to the point of impossible. There were no lock boxes so if you are a fan of those you won't be able to find that in this room.

Overall: The theme and room quality was so well put together! If you are into horror theme rooms, this room is definitely worth it. I always believed part of your escape experience is based on the group of people you go with. This room was so fun because I had players with me that were completely terrified which made it so hilarious. I also thought this room in particular had a lot more to see than other escape rooms. Every time you think you're about done there were some more surprises. Great experience at this company!

Happy Escaping!

I'm super excited about this post as it will be my first escape room review!
People that know me know that I am obsessed with escape rooms and when I say obsessed I mean OBSESSED. My friends are all fortunate enough to have me drag them to escape rooms all across the GTA (Richmond Hill, Markham, Scarborough and Newmarket).

Today's review is extra special as we took our escape adventure to Mississauga last night. A little background before I jump into this review, I had really high expectations bringing our escape adventures to Mississauga because it was the only area that we haven't explored yet. We've been hearing endless experiences from fellow escape addicts, which made our anticipation so much higher.

Pre-Room Experience: I would have thought going to somewhere that was highly anticipated we would at least make it on time, but nope we got lost. The place was a bit confusing to find and the dark streets did not help. We completely missed the sign the first time we drove past the plaza, making us completely clueless. It didn't help as all the building looked the same too. Eventually we found the place and it was very similar to Escape Game Canada (sketchy level that is haha). When walking in, the first thing I noticed was how big the lobby was. There was a spot for pictures and another side with coaches and tables. The staff were super friendly and had a sense of humour that we were too slow for haha. There were lockers for us to put our stuff like most escape game companies. We were led to the room and you can see how big the place is and a little sneak peek of their up coming room, which made it so much more exciting. A short backstory was told to us, but I can barely remember as I was so excited to enter the room.

Room Quality: Before entering the room we got split into two teams. We eventually reunited, so it wasn't one of those rooms where two groups kinda solved puzzles on their own and then join near the end. From playing all these escape rooms, I realized the first thing I notice when entering a room is if I'm immersed by the theme or not. It was so well designed! The room had props that fit the theme very well. It was a bit creepy, but not to the point where you're terrified. The puzzles also kept us all entertained and wasn't just locks everywhere that we needed to unlock. We went into the room with 6 players and it had more than enough space to fit us all.

Puzzle Design: In my opinion the puzzles were a lot more well rounded. Instead of having us solve math problems or decode scrambled words like some escape rooms, it was more hands-on puzzles. Some puzzles did had us hovering over one another, which in my opinion was one of the downfalls of the room. In terms of the difficulty level, it was not hard to an extreme however there were certain part that made us confused and not sure what to do.

Overall: The theme and room quality was excellent. The only drawback was how little there was. Don't get me wrong - the room and experience was excellent, but because we went in knowing that the room next to us was one of their best we were anticipating more. However, with that being said this room was still super fun and well designed. We all left knowing we wanted to come back because we can see so much coming from this newly opened escape game company. You can tell they spent a lot of time and thought into their rooms. Yay, we'll be back soon!

Happy Escaping!

Although Spring has yet to come in Toronto, I still think a cute hairstyle can bring up the mood. I'm honestly not a hair girl, but time to time there are those lazy hair days and these are my go to styles.
If you're lazy like me but also want to look good give these styles a try!

The first style is a more simple one. When I'm running on second day hair, I usually like to curl my hair. The curls add an effortless result making my hair look less flat and greasy.

The second hair style is the trendy half up, half down bun. Let's be honest, sometimes it's a bit harder to rock this hairstyle, but it looks good on almost any hair length. I added a cute bow and a pair of round glasses to create a cute Korean look. You can easily accessorize this hairstyle any way you like. For example, a choker with a bold lip color will totally add an edgy feel to it.

The third hairstyle is my go-to lazy braid! I am terrible when it comes to braiding but this hairstyle takes less than 2 minutes. Simply part your hair on one side and braid your hair like you would for a simple 3 strain braid. The trick to this is to add a piece of hair each time into one side of the braid, creating a half french braid. I finished the hairstyle with a cute head band.

The final hairstyle is one that I always get the most complements on. It looks a little trickier, but once you get the hang of it, it only takes less than 5 minutes. First divide your hair in half. For one side we are basically doing the same one sided french braid like our previous hairstyle. As for the second half it's just simply twisting your hair to the back. Here's the trick though, each time we twist, make sure to add a piece of hair into the twist to create a french twist, just like our braid.

Of course, my first post will be dedicated to my beloved sushi. Today I will be reviewing one of my all time favourite sushi restaurants called ICHIBAN FISH HOUSE, located on Leslie and 16th Ave. I have been visiting this place for years now and it honestly never disappoints me. If you're looking for some fresh sashimi this is really the place to go to.

I tend to find myself grabbing lunch here on most days. One of my go to choices is their "combo #1" salmon lover. This combo comes with miso soup and salad as starters. The miso soup was a bit on the salty side on my most recent visit, but nevertheless it was still really good. I'm never a big fan of the side salad that comes with my sushi, but my boyfriend ate both so I assume it was good 😅

The sushi itself was so delicious! It came with 5 piece salmon sushi (2 of which were salmon belly), 6 pieces spicy salmon roll and 6 pieces of salmon sashimi (3 of which were salmon belly). The portion was just right leaving both my boyfriend and I to be super full after our meal.

We also really like their "combo #2" assorted sushi. This combo also comes with miso soup and salad as side. It also comes with 5 pieces of assorted sushi (salmon, tuna, white tuna, and shirmp), 6 pieces of roll (it changes time to time) and 6 pieces assorted sashimi.

Lunch is average $15 after tax, which is a bit pricey in my opinion, however I think the quality of the food definitely makes up for it. I would also highly recommend their sushi platters for larger groups!

Overall, this place is definitely worth a try in my opinion!
